Santa Cruz in Februany

We went to Santa Cruz this weekend, the last weekend of Februany (that's right, ANY foot long* for just 5 bucks).
* excludes premium sandwiches

Sorry we haven't posted in so long, but we have lots of sweet pictures for you of our little excursion to the coast!

It took forever to make the 30 mile trip because we took the long, scenic route along highway 9.
The road was like this the whole way:

Melanie womaned the camera while I drove

California has weird trees and lots of moss

The view from the top of the hill was spectacular

I decided that we should live in one of the towns in the woods.
They have everything you need.
 - a general store
 - a pool
 - a dentist
 - and plenty of bars
They even have toy trains in the woods!

We finally made it to the beach after driving circles around the "boardwalk."
We must have passed the carnival 4 times.

There is a really cool rail line that runs through Santa Cruz and right next to the Boardwalk.

Seals live under the warf and Mel had never seen a seal in the wild before.
Too bad I didn't take a picture :(

We also saw a lighthouse which is a surfing museum now

Careful, this guy is closer than he looks!

We left the coast just as the sun went down
