So without further ado,
Supplies: ( The frame, cork, and ribbon was bought at Hobby Lobby)
- A picture frame. You will NOT need the glass of the frame for this project.--I used a 2"x3"
- Cork board--I used coasters because they were thicker than a single sheet. If you already have or buy a single sheet of cork board you will probably want to double it up.
- Pins
- Cutting board
- Utility knife
- Scissors
- A pretty fabric--I used some ribbon I already had on hand.
- Hot glue
FYI: I REALLY broke this down for you guys! I'm kind of a perfectionist, so feel free to be a bit more casual about your measuring and checking if you are so inclined!
Step One:Use the insert from your picture frame to measure the cork board. Use the pins to hold the paper in place or use a pen and trace around the picture. Carefully use your utility knife (preferably on a cutting board or similarly safe-to-cut-on surface) to cut the appropriate size of cork board. You could also just use scissors here. (This is not pictured because I accidentally permanently deleted the picture and was not about to recreate the scene. You get it right?)
- Use your scissors to clean up the rough edges
- Make sure the cutout fits
- Measure and cut your fabric. I suggest overlapping the edges slightly if possible.
- Put hot glue on one end of the fabric. Center the first piece and then continue wrapping the fabric around the cork. (I tried making the ribbon tighter by gluing at the top and bottom edges of the cork as well as the ends of the ribbon. I don't think it made much of a difference.)
- Put it all back inside of the frame. Place a decorative pin slightly above center to hold the rings.
I actually made His and Hers holders. Notice "his" has a blue pin?
Anyway. These now adorn our bathroom counter. And I love how they turned out.
Thanks Pinterest!
